How it works
- Write the words first. Put the exact headline, subline and small print in quotes and say where each goes: "headline top third, date and venue bottom left". Text the model is not told about becomes gibberish; text it is told about is rendered.
- Describe the image and the type. "Single figure in silhouette against a red gradient, condensed grotesque headline, generous margins." Reference a style — Swiss, riso, brutalist, hand-lettered — and the model follows it.
- Choose the ratio and resolution, then iterate. 2:3 is the standard poster ratio. Generate at 1K on Flare to settle the layout, then re-run at 4K on Sunburst for the file you send to print.
What to put in the prompt
Quote every word that must appear. The model renders text it is given verbatim. Anything left to invention — "some small text at the bottom" — comes out as pseudo-text. Write the small print too, or leave the space empty.
Give the hierarchy in order. Headline, then subline, then details. Saying which is largest and where it sits is what makes the result look designed rather than decorated.
Name the type style, not a font. "Heavy condensed sans, tight leading" works; a specific font name usually does not. Describe weight, width and spacing.
Limit the palette. Two colours and a paper tone read as a poster. Rainbow gradients read as a template.
Borrow a library layout. The poster prompts below already spell out hierarchy and placement. Open one, replace the words, keep the structure.

Can the AI poster generator render my exact headline?
Yes, when the headline is quoted in the prompt. GPT Image 2.5 rendered brand names, taglines and even dense Chinese labels correctly in our comparison runs. Long paragraphs are less reliable than headlines; keep body copy short or add it in a design tool.
What size can I print?
Generate at 4K for print. Pixel dimensions vary by ratio; a 2:3 poster at 4K is sized for A3 at good quality and A2 at normal viewing distance. For larger formats, upscale in your print workflow.
Is the AI poster generator free?
